    Nothing Left to Say

I can’t see anybody who knows me,

Tell me why I shouldn’t be scared,

Only a bar and a bottle can help me,

Give me something to lean on,

    And take me somewhere else,

    ‘cause I don’t believe anymore,

Can’t you see that I’ve had enough?

    And I don’t believe anymore,

There’s no-one looking down from above.

    Somebody give me an answer,

    Somebody say a prayer,

Find me someone to believe in,

    Don’t just walk away,

Is there anyone who can heal me?

    Does anyone know my name?

Find me someone who can hear me,

Now there’s nothing left to say.

I try to talk but my cowardice beats me,

Try to let out what’s locked in my head,

I wanted to hide so that you wouldn’t see me,

    Helpless, weak and uncertain,

    Embarrassed by myself,

    I don’t believe anymore,

Can’t you see that I’ve had enough?

    And I don’t believe anymore,

    Forsaken everyone I have loved.

    Somebody give me an answer,

    Somebody say a prayer,

Find me someone to believe in,

    Don’t just walk away,

Is there anyone who can heal me?

    Does anyone know my name?

Find me someone who can hear me,

Now there’s nothing left to say.

‘cause I’m hopeless, and I’m nothing,

I can’t stand the sound when I hear my name,

    Am I broken? I’m defeated,

I’m ashamed to say what I want to say,

Am I falling? Am I jumping?

Am I making sense? Do I sound insane?

Can you hear me? Am I shouting?

Should I save my breath now there’s nothing left to say?

    Somebody give me an answer,

    Somebody say a prayer,

Find me someone to believe in,

    Don’t just walk away,

Is there anyone who can heal me?

    Does anyone know my name?

Find me someone who can hear me,

Now there’s nothing left to say.

    Somebody

    If somebody, somewhere,

    Watches over me,

    Then somebody, somewhere,

    (had) Better prove to me,

There’s more than sky and space and stars up above us,

Until then I don’t think I need care,

    That somebody, somewhere,

    Watches over me.

    If somebody, somewhere,

    Has to walk with me,

Beside a river, over a mountain, across the sea,

Why on a starless night send eyeless to guide us,

Where only the frail need to find,

And when the light reveals the con to control us,

They still praise the blind leading blind.

So when you need to feel strong, call jesus,

(he) Makes being pious and wrong, alright,

Sheep don’t like being alone, they call Jesus,

Cos he’s got you under his spell,

What choice is heaven or hell,

Be scared of that kind of love.

    Nobody, nowhere,

    Has to rescue me,

Cos I’m not a slave, not a liar, not a victim, poor or diseased,

He’s gonna rain his might down upon us,

For finding the flaws in the lies,

And (so) what makes a maker make unbelievers,

To punish for owning their minds?

So when you need to feel strong, call jesus,

(he) Makes being pious and wrong, alright,

Sheep don’t like being alone, they call Jesus,

Cos he’s got you under his spell,

What choice is heaven or hell,

Be scared of that kind of love.

NOTES
Mama K and the Big Love is a band with attitude and substance. Hailing from Australia’s 'deep-south' (Hobart, Tasmania), Mama K and the Big Love performed their all original, old school funk and soul for the first time in 2014.

In 2016, Mama K recorded their debut album at Red Planet Recording with producer Stewart Long (Violent Femmes, Luca Brasi). The album was tracked through a 1975 Vintage Harrison 24/32 Recording Console and mixed to a Vintage Studer B67 Analog Tape Deck. "So much can be done with digital these days, but sometimes you just want some romance!" said Stew Long, “We used old gear wherever it felt good."

With band members ranging from teens to fifties, the analog approach took each of their unique sounds and blended them together to create a soulful, energetic album. While their first goal was recording, Mama K and the Big Love have proved themselves to be passionate and engaging performers with a growing a flock of loyal supporters. With their call-and-response songs, they present a humorous 'heathen gospel' sound that makes them hard to ignore.

This project was assisted through Arts Tasmania by the Minister for the Arts.
